About Emily

Emily finds her biggest inspiration in the natural beauty of our planet and the intermixing of cultures around her. She was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA and Oakland became her second home when she fell in love with the vibrant people, food, and arts of the Bay Area.

Her design degree and experience working for elite residential and commercial firms set a solid foundation for her career. She also worked for four years as a licensed realtor, developing a deep understanding of the investment side of home purchases and remodels.

Since founding her own design company in 2015, Emily has enjoyed making each client's home a personal passion project. Every space presents her with new challenges and an opportunity to use creative thinking to transform the way it's used. Always on the hunt for fresh ideas, she attends industry events, design seminars, and trade shows regularly to stay current on the newest trends and technologies in this fast-changing industry.

Emily spends much of her free time traveling; recent trips have included Marrakech, Tokyo, Sardinia, and her favorite: Barcelona. While at home, she surrounds herself with great music, food and art, and almost never turns down an excuse to dance and drink good wine with the people she loves.

Emily’s response time and attention to detail are uncanny. She has the memory of an elephant and really listens to your input to help create exactly what you are looking for, while throwing in ideas that bring out your style.

Design Philosophy

We spend most of our time and make most of our memories in our homes. They are our sanctuaries, our gathering places, our workshops. I believe deeply in the power of great design to improve our human experience, and therefore our physical and emotional well-being.

The design process is an exciting journey that I joyfully navigate with each of my clients. Every project is unique, yet they share common goals: a cohesive vision, expert advice on selections, clever ideas to balance the budget, and functional solutions to maximize the use of space.

Many of my clients are overwhelmed or simply too busy to tackle the design process on their own. They may know what they like, but not how to effectively bring their vision to life. We work together to determine their specific needs and preferences, and then develop a design plan to create a space they'll love for years to come.

Each home is a beautiful collaboration between designer and dwellers, and I take pride in the result.

Emily was a joy to work with. She helped me clarify my style and design preferences and then offered creative ideas that I never would have thought of on my own. She patiently coached me through my indecisiveness and together we created beautiful, livable spaces that I absolutely love!

About the Company

Emily's prior experience in the industry shed light on a common problem: the traditional interior design business model lacks the transparency and flexibility that today's clients desire. Seeing an opportunity to improve the way she does business, she set out to found a company that would redefine the designer-client relationship in an approachable and accessible way.

Whereas most firms charge hefty a mark-up, Emily instead shares her trade discounts with her clients. Rather than intimidating project fees and minimums, she charges only one flat hourly rate. Instead of strictly defining the process in a "one size fits all" way, she works with each client's unique needs and preferences.

Emily creates beautiful and functional homes for busy families and professionals throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Her designs are tailored specifically to each client's style, but all exude a sense of ease and timelessness that grows with the family. She connects her clients with resources she's acquired across her years of experience, and works hands-on to deliver a finished product she is truly proud of. Recent projects include a "California Cool" family home in Orinda, a Spanish Bungalow in Rockridge, and a Glam-Meets-Modern flat in NYC.
